With the generous support of AFP, ReNEWS is producing a fundraising event to raise money to support Afghan journalists with mental health resources, safety support, and care. The event, which is evolving as we speak, will comprise a conversation moderated by Phil Chetwynd, Global News Director for AFP, with several guests with expertise on the situation.

Dr. Anthony Feinstein, who has recently finished filming a documentary on Afghan journalists and mental health, will join us to share results of his work and several other guests – including journalists who have worked in Afghanistan and, if the situation is safe, Afghan journalists, as well – who will give up-to-the-minute updates on the situation in Afghanistan and,

very crucially, give specific ways in which we, the global news community, can help at this desperate time. The event is free of charge. We will ask attendees to contribute to the fundraising effort (all of which will go to supporting Afghan media workers, with no administrative costs), but this is voluntary.
